SASANE cooking class was initiated with the mission to empower women survivors of trafficking and other forms of exploitation, who are not eligible to become certified paralegal and trekking & tour guides due to lack of educational certification after dropping out of school through cooking and presentation.
SASANE, through its cooking class trains these survivors with basic culinary, hospitality, leadership, management and food presentation skills. The survivors engage themselves in preparing delicious Nepali traditional food with foreign travelers and also teach them how to make the food items while presenting the delicacy.
SASANE’s Cooking class offers two different courses to visitors:
Momo demonstration class – consists of a momo making demonstration, being served a typical Nepali thali lunch prepared by the sisters, and listening to a presentation of human trafficking and how SASANE help survivors transform their lives. This program takes about 1.5-2 hours and costs Nepali Rs 2000 for vegetarian thali and Rs 3000 for Non veg thali.
Full length Nepali cooking class – this hands-on program is more interactive with the girls, and covers how to make momo and a typical Nepali thali lunch from scratch using all fresh ingredients! Visitors will also get a chance to listen to a presentation of human trafficking and how SASANE helps survivors transform their lives. This program takes about 3.5-4 hours and costs Nepali Rs 3000 for vegetarian thali and Rs 4000 for Non veg thali.
