Sisterhood
The Australian Camp known locally as ‘Thulo Kharka’ was a place used for grazing animals. It is reached by a 2 hr hike that starts from the village of Kande, where you arrive by a drive that provides a continuous scenic view of the hills and mountains. From Kande, the hiking trail starts with a beautiful view of the Pokhara Valley then passes through terraced fields, local settlements and quiet forest and finally leads you to the spread-out view of the whole Annapurna Range. The hikers will easily be able to spot the Annapurna South (7219m), Hiuchuli (6441m), Machhapuchhre (6993m) and Lamjung Himal (6983m). Further up on the hillside, colorful tents are set up which makes a quite nice place for taking pictures.
Hike Highlights
We have an early morning breakfast and then we will be driving towards Kande for about an hour. We start our trek from Kande and after 2 hrs reach Australian Base Camp. We will be seeing the spectacular views of the Annapurna range and surrounding villages. We have our lunch here and rest for a while before hiking down the perfect jungle trail with birds chirping to the beautiful village of Dhampus which takes about an hour. Dhampus village is well known for the number of old fashioned slate-roofed houses. This hike is best for those wishing to experience Nepal’s mountain scenery and ethnic culture within a short time. At Dhampus, a private vehicle will be waiting to take you to your hotel in Pokhara.
