SASANE Sisterhood Trekking and Travel trains female survivors of human trafficking, domestic violence, and child marriage & also from underprivileged communities as local tour/trek guides in Kathmandu and Pokhara areas. We offer travelers a unique cultural immersion experience while combating social issues.
While our travelers come from all walks of life and both sexes, we specifically appeal to travelers looking for a cultural immersion experience as well as female tourists who oftentimes feel safer trekking with female guides.
Bethanchowk Hill at 3,000 m is the highest hill of Mahabharata Range in Kavre, a neighboring district of Bhaktapur. Also called as King of Hills, it provides the best views of Himalayan Peaks.
Bethanchowk Narayanthan Hike is full of true wilderness in close proximity to Kathmandu as it has not been explored often. Unexplored trail, diversity of flora and fauna, isolated terrains, beautiful mountain ranges make the best of Bethan Chowk hike.
Hike Highlights:
Pick up from Kalikasthan or any predetermined meeting point in the afternoon. 3 to 4 hours drive from Kathmandu to Bethan Chowk Lodge. Short break between the drive at Pathikharka. During the break we will get to know more about the trip, introductions sessions, discuss briefly about the cause for which this trip will contribute to and so on. Overnight at Bethanchowk lodge. Things to do: Introduction and briefing of the hike Enjoy the scenery along the way to Bethanchowk BBQ on request Music & Dance Preparation for hike
Wake up call at 4 AM. After hike preparation and fitness training, the hike to bethanchowk hill begins at 4:30 AM. After a short 30-45 min drive, the uphill hike begins for about an hour to reach the breathtaking sunrise view point at Bethan chowk hill. Visit the historic Narayanthan Temple at the peak. After some refreshment and breakfast, downhill hike through lush green forest for about 3 - 4 hrs to reach the lodge. After lunch and refreshment, drive back to KTM. If interested, visit to Panauti Temple and Kailashnath Mahadev (44 m tall statue of lord Shiva) at Sanga visit during the way back. Things to do: View sunrise from Bethanchowk hill Hike along the beautiful lush green forest View Ganesh Himal Range Visit Historic Narayan Temple Taste delicious ‘Khuwa’ (Popular dairy item, made from pure buffalo milk) in Bethan chowk View Banepa, Panauti, Khopasi & Birgunj city from the peak Visit Panuti Temple and 44m tall lord shiva’s statue at Sanga (on request)
