  • Ghyampe Danda is a potential tourist spot to be explored.The beautiful green hill is just 14 kilometres away from Kathmandu and is home to some of the famous temples and shrines. An open National Zoological Garden that is being developed in this area. Also Ranikot Gadhi lies here.

    Ghyampe Danda is located at a height of around 2,000 metres above sea level. We can have an incredible view of the entire Kathmandu Valley and many snow-capped mountains. The  Government of Nepal has made a recent declaration to make it a tourism spot as it has enhanced its popularity among prospective visitors.

    The forest that spreads the areas of 245.165 hectares is home to various faunal and floral species. The entire forest looks beautiful when the colorful rhododendrons bloom in April and May. The higher you go through the forest road, the deeper you lose yourself into the ecstasy of seeing the unique natural beauties, sereneness, calmness and chirping of birds.

    When you reach Pilot Baba Ashram, you will find yourself in a piece of heaven. There is a temple in a beautiful Shikhara-style atop the hill. The temple is dedicated to Som Nath Mahadev.

    Half an hour further uphill ride takes you to another historical spot called Ranikot which is now extremely popular for the fossil or debris of a Licchavi-era palace and its historical importance. It is believed that during the Licchavi era, there used to be a beautiful palace where a beautiful queen of a Lichhavi king used to reside. Among the many wives of the king, the youngest one was the most loved and beautiful whom he hid in this palace fearing she would be eyed by his enemies. The Lichhavi coins found around is proof referring to that era. There are also many fossils of sub-palaces. “There are many mysteries behind this place’’. This area links Bhaktapur to Kavrepalanchowk. Settlements of Tamang and Newar communities are there.

    • Day 01 :

      Early morning breakfast and drive 30 minutes towards Suryabinayak Temple, Bhaktapur. Visit the famous Suryabinayak temple and start the hike towards Ghyampe dada. The hike continues for 2 hours. Lunch at Ghyampe Dada and visit the famous pilot baba ashram that has a beautiful temple and a meditation spot. We can see a fine view of Kathmandu valley and various mountains from the Ashram. After some rest, we continue our hike towards Ranikot. Explore Ranikot and stay at a local lodge.

    • Day 02 :

      After breakfast, we will have a short awareness and interaction program with the locals regarding various social issues in the community. Then, we hike back to Suryabinayak and head towards the hotel or SASANE homestay.

      • A Pair of Sticks Can Prove Useful, Especially To Help Keep Your Balance on Slippery Ground

     

    • Choose Boots With Good Tread For Better Traction.
    • Invest In Breathable Technical Clothing to Avoid “The Sauna Effect”  & use light and easily dry clothes (select full sleeve pants)
    • Protect Your Backpack Inside As Well As Outside

     

    • Remember To Keep Yourself Hydrated And Bring Plenty Of Water. However, Drink Just Sip Of Water But Frequently To Avoid Dehydration (Drinking Too Much At Times Gives You Pain In The Stomach)
    • Hiking backpack: There are three main areas where you’ll need to make choices:
    • Backpack capacity: The size pack you’ll need is tied to the length of your trip and how much weight and bulk you want to carry.
    • The backpack features: These are the refinements that affect how the pack works for you.
    • Backpack fit: Torso length, not your height, matters most.
    • Stretching your legs and body parts before and between the hike
    • Eat light and healthy foods( avoid packet & junk foods)
    • Give attention to Sun protection (wear full sleeve T-shirt, sunscreen,hat, cap)
    • The leg injury is very likely to occur, use ankle shoes with proper grip.
    • Wear light and easily dry clothes (select full sleeve pants)
