  • Suryachaur is a newly explored hiking destination located nearby Kathmandu Valley. The hike is fairly easy but does not compromise on the view of the Himalayas. It is also famous for its sunrise-sunset view and a popular picnic spot for the Nepalese. Starting from Kakani, you can see vast agricultural terrains; locals especially grow radish and strawberry that you can have a taste of it.

    Hike Highlights

      • Flora and Fauna (If you are lucky you can even encounter a tiger)

    • View of Nuwakot Village
    • View of Ganesh Himal and Langtang Range
    • Fish farming especially Rainbow Trout
    • See the local life in Kakani Village
    • Strawberry farming; you can even taste the alcohol made from the strawberries.

    • Day 1 :

      We start our drive towards Kakani (2030m). After about 2 hrs we reach Kakani where we can see the mixed ethnic settlements mostly Tamang and Chettri. From here we start our 5 hr hike towards Surya Chaur (1925m), walking through the dense forest of Pine and Juniper in the Shivapuri Conservation Area including some gradual ascends and descends. After reaching Surya Chaur, you can see the stunning Ganesh Himal and the Langtang range along with the beautiful surrounding views of the Nuwakot village and the traditional terraced farming. Then we drive back for an hour to reach Kathmandu.

    • A Pair of Sticks Can Prove Useful, Especially To Help Keep Your Balance on Slippery Ground

    • Choose Boots With Good Tread For Better Traction.
    • Invest In Breathable Technical Clothing to Avoid “The Sauna Effect”  & use light and easily dry clothes (select full sleeve pants)
    • Protect Your Backpack Inside As Well As Outside

     

    • Remember To Keep Yourself Hydrated And Bring Plenty Of Water. However, Drink Just Sip Of Water But Frequently To Avoid Dehydration (Drinking Too Much At Times Gives You Pain In The Stomach)
    • Hiking backpack: There are three main areas where you’ll need to make choices:
    • Backpack capacity: The size pack you’ll need is tied to the length of your trip and how much weight and bulk you want to carry.
    • The backpack features: These are the refinements that affect how the pack works for you.
    • Backpack fit: Torso length, not your height, matters most.
    • Stretching your legs and body parts before and between the hike
    • Eat light and healthy foods( avoid packet & junk foods)
    • Give attention to Sun protection (wear full sleeve T-shirt, sunscreen,hat, cap)
    • The leg injury is very likely to occur, use ankle shoes with proper grip.
    • Wear light and easily dry clothes (select full sleeve pants)
