Story Behind: In the year 2016, SASANE Sisterhood started a project to empower women by providing alternative source of income for human trafficking Survivors who were unable to work as a paralegal.
In this program, we will take our valued guest to the biggest buddhist pilgrimage in Nepal – Bouddhanath followed by a Mo:Mo cooking class. The site of this ancient white stupa dates back to centuries when a human sacrifice was made to please the goddess of rain to eliminate drought in Kathmandu Valley. Later the site of sacrifice was rebuilt by subsequent royal dynasties to pay homage to the goddess. Now this place is a thriving enclave in itself which boasts culture and heritage from tibet. This is a unique place where ancient folklore meets the modern yet charming chaos surrounded by buddhist prayers and temples.
Mo:Mo are typically grounded vegetable and meat wrapped in a dough which is then steam cooked in a big pot. Nepalese devour Mo:Mo in every season and at any time. If you are curious about Mo:Mo, and you want to learn to make them in a relaxed atmosphere while supporting the noble cause SASANE is undertaking, then come and pay us a visit.
